Hurricanes Irma and Maria destroyed or severely damaged 85% of the electric utility infrastructure in the British Virgin Islands. The BVI government estimates it may take as long as six months to fully restore electricity throughout the territory.
The government and many residents recognize the need for developing their alternative energy resources. Now is an ideal time to increase investments in solar energy, especially for the poorest residents who have lost their homes and livelihoods.
One Love BVI shares this vision of sustainable development for the future of our beloved islands, and for our planet. We're committed to helping the BVI build back better, smarter, and stronger than ever before. We're partnering with local solar firms that hire local BVI employees to install solar electric systems on community centers and qualifying belonger-owned homes.
Join us in helping the people of the BVI restore their quality of life AND preserve the beauty of their islands! Let's ensure that the territory has a bright, sustainable future ahead for all. All funds raised will go toward providing the supplies, materials and equipment needed to install solar electric systems on community centers and select belonger-owned homes designated by Rotary International.
